Most Anticipated LGBTQ+ Films, Books & TV Series of 2025

2024 was a good year for queer content but there were a lot of hits and misses for LGBTQ+ representation in the media, specifically in TV, film, and literature. 2025 is looking promising as more production studios and streaming platforms tease what they have in store for us. Fans are already excited about a few returning series, new films, and books. Here are some of the LGBTQ+ content we are looking forward to in 2025.

TV Series

Xo Kitty Season 2

The popular Netflix show tracks Kitty’s journey as she relocates to Seoul to attend a new school and be near her Korean partner, while also discovering ways to connect with her late mother’s legacy. Kitty’s conflicting feelings for Yuri dominated season 1, and the cliffhanger with Min-ho left viewers asking for more. It will be exciting to see Kitty explore her sexuality. May the fair maiden or gentlemen win the race for her heart!

White Lotus Season 3

The teaser for this season already has us buzzing with anticipation. White Lotus is famous for its gripping storyline, including LGBTQ+ relationships. The show doesn’t back away from authentic representation of LGBTQ+ relationships, and diverse sexuality themes and we love to watch it.

Heartbreak High

Shortly after season 2 dropped last April, Netflix announced the show’s renewal for a third and final season. Sadly, we will be saying goodbye to our favorite students at Hartley High. One of our favorite couples from this rom-com is Darren and Ca$h. Their journey as an asexual couple has resonated with many viewers and became a conversation starter to help more people understand asexuality.

Heartstopper Season 4

We can never have enough of Nick and Charlie, and Netflix has been kind enough to renew this amazing coming-of-age drama for another season. Last season addressed some heavy themes, and critics lauded its representation of queer teenagers struggling with mental health. We are already counting down the days to the new season as we catch up with our favorite young queer couples.

The Next Prince

If you know about Thai Boy Love series, you probably know about ZeeNunew. They are arguably one of the biggest and hottest on-screen partners in the Thailand film industry. Their upcoming project has been making waves since Domundi and Mandee dropped the teaser back at the end of 2023. The show’s release, initially planned for 2024, was postponed. The show is finally premiering in 2025 and ZeeNunew fans can barely stay calm. The new teaser on YouTube has over 3 million views.

Films

The Housekeeper

Fans are excited to see Uma Thurman, Phoebe Dynevor, and Anthony Hopkins in this film adapted from a short story by British novelist Rose Tremain. The movie centers on Danni, a housekeeper who develops romantic feelings for Daphne Du Maurier, a guest at the opulent estate of the wealthy and widowed Lord DeWithers, played by Hopkins.

Red, White & Royal Blue 2

Although we don’t have a release date yet, we know that Red, White & Royal Blue has been in the works since 2024. If everything goes to plan and all the schedules align, we might reunite with the dashing Prince Henry and the hot first son of America, Alex. What happens now that they are publicly out and dating?

Kiss of the Spider Woman

This is a musical drama based on the 1976 novel by Manuel Puig and a feature adaptation of the 1992 stage musical by the same name. The film tells the story of Luis Molina, a gay hairdresser serving an 8-year prison term. He spends most of his days imagining films starring a famous screen actress, Ingrid Luna. However, his quiet jail life is disrupted when a Marxist, Valentin Arregui Paz, becomes his new cellmate.

Books

This contemporary romance novel brings to life the story of Teniade Adeowo, a Nigerian immigrant who moves to England to start a new life. While there he meets Stefan Wickström’ from Sweden. Will the weight of their past secrets threaten to derail the blossoming romance between the two, or can they overcome their hidden truths to achieve a joyful conclusion?
